Synopsis (From Goodreads)
Navy SEAL Clay Pickett needs a wife, fast, or he’ll lose the model sustainable community he and his friends came home to Chance Creek to build. He’s got just the woman for the job in mind: sexy, sensitive Nora Ridgeway. Too bad she’s not interested in rushing to the altar.
When Nora leaves her job as a school teacher to open a Jane Austen Bed and Breakfast with her friends—and finally get a chance to write her novel—she’s relieved to escape the escalating threats of violence from an unknown student stalker, and more than a little interested in the Navy SEAL who’s after her heart. But when trouble starts stalking her at Chance Creek, Nora begins to wonder if she’s left her past behind after all.
Can Clay and Nora find a way to be together when everything is trying to tear them apart?
My thoughts on A SEAL’s Vow
WARNING: This have spoilers. You’ve been warned.
Clay and Nora are the next in line for the SEAL’s of Chance Creek Series by Cora Seton, and I have to say that their story is interesting. Also I have to say that I hate Fulsom since he shows up in the previous book, and in this book, Renata takes that heat too because I really don’t like her.
Clay is in charge of building the houses for the project the SEAL’s are working for. His designs are really environmental friendly and saves a lot resources, it’s also small but with enough space to make a woman live comfortable with her husband inside.
Nora is a teacher turn writer. She came to Chance Creek with her friends to pursue her writing career and escape an stalker that was threatening her very life back home. Sounds good but she has a problem, every time she tries to write her stories she feels like what she is writing has no depth what so ever and she feels like she is failing.
I could tell you the story but the fact is that they are both attracted to one another, however Nora refuse to marry Clay in short notice because she claims she doesn’t know him. The back and forward between those two and the relationship is not easy, specially when their very move is being film and the deadlines are just one more problem on top of all the others.
As usual in Cora Seton books, at least for me, the writing has a nice flow, the explanations are not all over the pages and the descriptions always have a reason to be there. No writing out of place in this book, not one. At least I didn’t see any. Also no strange words for me, considering I’m not a native English speaker.
I have to say I did not see the twist this book has coming, not only for Nora and Clay, neither for Walker and Avery, or Dell and Lizette who are Clay’s parents. This was a great book to read because the action was there, the romance was there, all the things have a reason to be and I could see the situation unfolding.
One thing that I can be sure when I read some of this particular author’s books is that the characters are not dull. I love the fact that Nora is such a strong person, she has been thru a lot with the stalker and the Clay situation, I can understand her even when there was some times during my reading that I wanted to just shake her and send her to Clay. The same can be said for him, so… they’re even *laughs*
Can I talk about a sucker punch? Walker is… *shuts up at the last minute* Sorry, if I told you it would not be as fun as it was discovering all the details while reading the book, and it affects it in a way that goes into the next book, so… You read it to know *smiles*
