Synopsis (From Goodreads)
Keifer Vassago, The Prince of Dragons, has enough on his plate without adding a brunette with a bad attitude to the mix. Fate has a way of screwing all his plans, though, whether he wants them screwed or not. One second he’s fetching his brother from yet another situation that could possibly compromise the Vassago name, and the next that brunette is grabbing his assets.
Blythe isn’t after anyone’s assets, though. She’s a good girl. All she wants is to graduate from nursing school, get a job, and move out of her hell hole apartment. What she does not have time to deal with is a sexy bearded man that accuses her of grabbing his junk. She tries to forget about the encounter, but fate’s a cruel bitch.
One second she’s a normal college student barely living paycheck to paycheck, and the next she’s setting her panties on fire with powers from an ancient immortal dragon. To add insult to injury, she’s hearing voices, and none of them are figments of her imagination.
Blythe’s life is turned upside down, and Keifer forces her to adapt even though she doesn’t want to. She likes her life just the way it is. Not to mention she wants nothing to do with that arrogant asshole. She doesn’t care that he rides a dragon. She also could care less about his stupid beard, and his sexy eyes.
Yeah, who was she kidding? She wasn’t convincing anybody.

WARNING: This have spoilers. You’ve been warned.
I’m excited to share with you this review of a new book by Lani Lynn Vale. I know this will be my first review of her on the blog but don’t worry, there is more to come. She is one of the authors I enjoy devouring her books like there is no tomorrow left. I was so caught up reading that when I finished the 3 series I’ve read of hers, back to back, I realize that I didn’t take notes for reviews. This time I did take notes *grin happily*
Paranormal and Fantasy are new genres for Lani Lynn Vale. She usually writes military contemporary romance. This series about Dragons is her first attempt into new territory and I have to give it to her, she did a good job in deed. I also have to say that it was a big risk for a writer that has, at this present moment, 5 contemporary series jump onto a hole different field like Paranormal Fantasy. She is a brave writer in my opinion.
Keifer is a Dragon Rider, but not any Dragon Rider, he is a Prince, and to be even more specific: he is the next to rule. His father die years ago, his mother still lives with him and his brothers, and Keifer has avoided the throne for all this time. Let me add, between us, their mother rocks! *smiles*
Blythe works as a waitress to pay for her nursing school. She doesn’t like the job and she kind of want to hit her neighbor and co-worker in the head because more often that not, the girl doesn’t show up to work and Blythe has to cover for both of them.
The two main characters meet when Keifer drags his brother Farrow out from his girlfriend apartment, and the girl being Blythe neighbor and all makes the meeting very casual, short and funny. What happen afterwords it’s not so funny, for neither of them but for the reader it’s quite the laugh.
I need to say their mother, even though she doesn’t speak a line, is strong and hilarious. At least in my opinion. When it comes to the rest of the characters, they are all so well placed that I just enjoy the ride they give during the story and I laugh.
I did learn a little bit more about description of mythical creatures with this story. The way Lani Lynn Vale put the picture of what a Dragon looked like, for her, in my head was awesome. It was easy to read, not double takes to make sure I got it right, and the details were all there in plain sight. I even make a note to myself on my writing journal about it so I can look it up later, because I know I will probably need that some day.
Book about Dragons, right? Hell yeah! Declan, Keifer’s dragon it’s the amazing creature that I learn to love even when he tries to fit in using language he learned from TV that it’s kind of weird in a dragons vocabulary. I guess… The other favorites of mine are the terrible three, those little ice dragons that are so adorable you won’t even know what to do about it, but want to spoil them all the way.
The book has a nice flow. You don’t feel like it’s going too fast or too slow at any given point. I do have to say I felt I wanted more at the end, like… I wanted it to be longer but that, I’ve realized happens to me with some paranormal books because I’m by nature too curious. There was no question unanswered… well… there was one for me, but it’s part of the plot for the series according to my understanding so it was good. For the couple however, there was nothing unresolved to report.
Lani Lynn Vale writes in Plain English *insert the fact that I learned what Plain English was this week* and I so loved it before and I love it in this book too. She doesn’t use those words that you have to look up on a dictionary to understand or that are fancy. If she wants to say something, she does, plain and simple, without too much glitter around.
Sufficient to say I want the next book soon. Speaking of soon… I’m so glad the Release Date for “Dragon’s Need Love Too” is next week *smile like the Cheshire cat*
