SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS
Molly Bishop loves living in Manhattan and managing a boutique luxury hotel. She’s about to be promoted to her dream job of General Manager, the role she’s been striving for her entire career.
There’s only one thing standing in her way.
The will of her childhood friend, Christian Ford’s grandfather. She hasn’t even seen Christian in over ten years, but a recent run-in with his grandfather during a rare visit home, resulted in a new condition to the will. Christian will only inherit the ranch he’s been running and the real estate development business that he has expanded, if he marries Molly and stays married for at least six months.
This is what I would call a cozy romance, it’s romantic and sweet and is set in a small fictional town about 30 miles from Bozeman, MT. Warning, if you prefer your stories with the bedroom doors wide open and the windows steamed up, you may be disappointed. 🙂
I love to cook and try new recipes and if you do too, you may want to check out the recipe I included at the end of the book, for Lazy Lobster Casserole, the dish that Molly serves her guests at the Rose Cottage Inn’s first wine dinner. It’s a recipe I know by heart and have made a million times and is great for special occasions. It’s a holiday tradition in our family to have it every Christmas Eve. 🙂
***Also, please know that this book has a bit of a food focus, if you don’t like cooking or talk of recipes, etc. this may not be a good fit for you.
WARNING: This review have some SPOILERS
Not usually I get to read some clean romance like this one, but when I find myself doing so I like to enjoy it, because who knows when I will find another one with my reading habits *laughs*
The flow of the story was pretty good in my opinion. As the writing was also without complicated words that can make me feel like I’m spending more time looking for meanings that reading a book.
Talking about the story itself… I believe the way Pamela Kelley developed the relationship between Christian and Molly, under those strange circumstances was great. I personally believe it’s realistic. Why? There was no insta-love; drop everything and move; forget your long time dreams to live with that person forever, this was not that kind of book.
In this story you get a couple that has to get married so the groom can inherit his grandfathers business and the people under his employment can keep their jobs. Their doing the right thing for everyone and at the same time, they’re being realistic because both characters acknowledge that Molly had a life before having to move to Montana to be Christians wife.
He does not pretend she has to drop her dream job in New York forever to be with him. He actually gets her a project to keep her in her field of work during the six months she is there. He let her leave so she can experience that dream job. After all that he goes after her and the ending was just beautiful.
There was some over the top descriptions about cooking and running the B&B here and there. Character development was also put aside to a point because Molly and Christian knew what they wanted and who they were. A little predictable too and the bad girl of the story gave up pretty easily, but I believe Isabella was not supposed to be the bad person, it was just a turn that the book took.
The story was about how two mature people, in my opinion, that made this arrangement work with their different lives and fell in-love in the process. Just precious.
Pamela M. Kelley lives in the historic seaside town of Plymouth, MA near Cape Cod and just south of Boston. She has always been a book worm and still reads often and widely, romance, mysteries, thrillers and cook books. She writes contemporary romance and suspense and you’ll probably see food featured and possibly a recipe or two. She is owned by a cute little Maine Coon Cat, Ivy Lou.
