My Review

“Hell is empty, and all the devils are here.”

Fortuna Sworn

Fortuna Sworn is a creature, a monster, a nightmare. No. Literally, she is a Nightmare. What’s a Nightmare? A creature that with a touch can read your deepest, darkest fears and make you believe you’re living them.

Her brother goes missing and she can’t find him, but someone finds her. She’s taken and the kidnappers intent of selling her as a slave, the good thing is someone helps her scape. This is a good thing, right?

“Nightmares may be lies, but we don’t have to be liars.”

Fortuna Sworn’s Father

Fortuna is a fantastic main character. She’s a tough female, strong, loyal, independent, but most of all, she’s resilient. So far, no matter what life has thrown her way, she conquers it and moves on. She’s also the kind of female that takes charge of her own destiny, makes her own decisions and deals with the consequences.

The world that KJ Sutton presents to the readers is one where the creatures that we think only exist in books or legends are real. Some are free to roam the earth and some are kept as slaves by stronger individuals. All of this happens right in front of humans that don’t have any idea about what’s really going on.

Reading this book gave me almost no breathing room at all until the end. It was a situation after another situation from the very beginning. Bam, bam, bam, and bam. I had not one dull moment and I’m so happy that this was the case because dull moments make me want to skip pages. Fortuna Sworn grip me by the throat and kept me there until I was done with her story.

Dark, mysterious, twisted and shocking. All of these words fit perfectly to describe the kind of book Fortuna Sworn was for me. I know that I will be waiting for the next book in the series to come out so I can devour it just like I did this one. There is no way I could do anything else.

Would I recommend this book? YES!
Just be aware that are dark topics presented in this story.

Disclaimer: I got an advance review copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
