SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS

Private investigator Charlotte Davidson was born with three things: looks; a healthy respect for the male anatomy; and the rather odd job title of grim reaper. Since the age of five, she has been helping the departed solve the mysteries of their deaths so they can cross. Thus, when three lawyers from the same law firm are murdered, they come to her to find their killer.

In the meantime, Charley’s dealing with a being more powerful – and definitely sexier – than any spectre she’s ever come across before. With the help of a pain-in-the-ass skip tracer, a dead pubescent gangbanger named Angel, and a lifetime supply of sarcasm, Charley sets out to solve the highest profile case of the year and discovers that dodging bullets isn’t nearly as dangerous as falling in love.

MY REVIEW

After a year of putting this series off…

I’ve finally picked up the first book of the infamous Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones. I’m saying infamous because some of my reader friends have been nagging at me to read this series for over a year. Me being the stubborn woman and emotional reader that I am, I didn’t listen until a week ago.

Charley Davidson is a P.I. (private investigator) that works with the police solving murder mysteries. She was her father and she still is her uncle anonymous tip. How does she do it? Easy, she can see the dead and according to them, she is bright *laugh out loud*

The first book in this series is called First Grave on the Right and we follow Charley as she solve murders and help her clients from her P.I. business. With her funny foul mouth and a great attitude to boot, I was able to see why my friends loved Charley Davidson.

Now, here is the thing. We have two… yes, you read it correctly, two male protagonist. One Major and one not so Secondary characters that are really great. But I have to say that I wanted to know more about Reyes, and adding Charley’s attitude to that, is what kept me going until the end.

The writing was simply great. I can understand why some people don’t like Charley as a character. This series is not for everybody but I can testify that for me was a joy ride from the very begging.

I got the audio and Kindle versions. I jumped on the audiobook first and after a couple of chapters I picked the Kindle version. Why? I read faster than I can listen to the story *shrug* Sorry, not sorry.

I know it’s only the first book in the series but I NEEDED to know who the F*ck was Reyes. When that little piece of information was dropped I fell down on my bed (I was reading standing up because I was too engross to sit down). Holy mother of… If the book was interesting until that point, afterward I just wanted to know more and more.

I will be picking book 2 up probably this month. I’m not promising right away because… Hey, I have other books to read *smile*
