Synopsis

To save her, he had to betray her…

In Drake’s shadowy world, his enemies would exploit any weakness he had in order to bring him to his knees, and so he’s never allowed himself to care about anyone…never exhibited any vulnerability, and it made him a force to be reckoned with. Until Evangeline—his angel. A woman who slipped past his defenses like no one had ever managed. She was his to protect and ultimately, to do that, he had to do the unthinkable and drive the only good thing in his world away.

But he will stop at nothing to get her back…

Devastated and destroyed, Evangeline doesn’t know what made Drake turn on her in such a shocking manner. She only knows she’ll never be the same. He once freed her from all her inhibitions, only now she is a prisoner to never-ending pain. But when Drake finds her again, she realizes there is more to his world than she ever imagined, and she must decide if she can once more trust—and submit—to the man who holds her wounded heart in his hands. And he must convince her of just how far he’ll go to regain her love and forgiveness.

My Opinion on Dominated

She cries too much in this book. He treats her like she is going to break at every turn and she ask him, point-blank, to dominate her, she said so a few times. He seems to get the idea right but…

A week had not yet pass of the release date when I finished reading this book. It took me a while, a long one, to finally post this review.

You may have read my review on Mastered. If you did, you know how much I’ve loved the first installment of this series. I was very impatiently waiting for the second book.

I still love Maya Banks after reading Dominated but my opinion of these characters changed, and also the over all story feel to me change. In one honest word, I was disappointed. That’s why it took me so long to post this review.

When I finish Mastered I was left screaming “WHY?”. Finishing Dominated I was left with a cute feeling because of the HEA but upset with Evangeline, also with Drake but for some reason he wasn’t my problem, she was.

Evangeline made a statement at the end of the previous book, even when I wanted to kill her for it. She was the strongest character, that female that I’d like to admire and have as a friend. In this book I wanted to grab her and shake her a little bit to see if I could get a glimpse of that female again.

I understand her reaction, in some ways but I felt like she was not true to how I saw her. She was still strong, she came a long way but something wasn’t right.

Drake on the other hand deserved everything Silas and his men told him after they discovered what happened to make Evangeline leave. If I was in love with Silas before, now I want to marry the guy. He is seriously fantastic and true to his character.

Writing wise, it was Maya Banks. That being said, if you don’t get it, it was full of romance, feelings, emotion, wanting to kill someone or another during the read. She finds ways to convey words that I really like, and the quotes from this book are a testament to that.

I can’t wait to see how Maya it’s going to undertake Silas story, that is the next on the series. Release date is November 2016, so far.

Quotes

“If you find her, if she will listen to you, if she will forgive you or at least allow you the chance to make up for the horrible injustice done to her, you’re going to have to prove with actions and not just words that she is more to you than a woman who will warm your bed for a few nights and be sent on her way with an expensive gift for her time.” <— This is why I love Silas

Her nails dug tightly into his shoulders, and she closed her eyes as the beauty of his possession surged through her veins. It was like coming home.

“Because I realized I loved you. I love you with everything I am. Everything I have. Everything tha is within me and everything that I’ll ever be. Whatever I’ll be is because of you.”

He shuddered at the very idea of daughters in the plural sense. As in more than one. Just as quickly, he suddenly pictured a half-dozen daughters, all miniature replicas of Evangeline. He could feel the blood leaving his face and his knees growing weak. Six mini angels? He would be so fucked… and completely delirious with joy.
