Synopsis (From Goodreads)
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Getting arrested wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry…but the downside is the man she’s come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack’s sworn enemy… aka her fiancé.
Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha’s heir. Everything he’s ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he’ll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving.
But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she’s as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear… including his newfound love for her.
My thoughts on Werewolf Meets His Match
WARNING: This MAY have spoilers. You’ve been warned.
I’ve read the first book on this series in 2015 and loved it. It was just a matter of time for me to pick up the rest and I believe I did a great job when I decided to keep reading this series in July because the fun and interesting set of characters has no comparison. I just wished I pick this book sooner because some of the old information about the other characters was already almost erased from my mind to keep up.
Ivy Kincaid is a bad ass biker werewolf that has to marry because her father, the Alpha of the Kincaid Pack has order her to do so, with the intention to get a truss with the Merrow Pack by marrying his daughter to their oldest son. She didn’t want to marry but nobody refused Clemens Kincaid and lived, not even his sons or daughter. Ivy had seen her mother cater to her father’s wishes no matter how badly he treated her and didn’t even try to protect her children because she would be severely disciplined for it. She was afraid the oldest Merrow would be just like her father and if that was the case, she didn’t know what she would do.
Hank Merrow is the sheriff of Nocturne Falls and likes to follow the law. His father is the Alpha of the Merrow pack and when he is presented by him with the option on getting a truss by marriage, he accepted. His father tries to convince him it’s not necessary for him to marry this girl but Hank would hear none of it, because if it’s in his hands to make life easier for his pack he will do it. Meeting Ivy in the way he did was not exactly promising but soon he found out she was an amazing woman that cared for others in a way the Kincaid were not known to do.
Ivy kept a secret from Hank thou. One that when he found out about, his reaction surprised her because she didn’t expect a man to be like he was: loyal, honest, kind and with a beautiful heart. After an amount of problems they found their happy ending and it was just perfect.
I can’t complain about this story because it made me laugh while reading it and there were some moments when something got in my eye, if you know what I mean. It was a great read and I want to continue with this series because I believe you can’t go wrong with it if you like paranormal romances with humor and intrigue in them at the same time.
By the way… I love books with strong Alpha-Male-Dominant men as main characters but this author does me right with her strong-minded-ethical-family oriented-loyal men. Not saying they are not Alpha Males and dominants but they have a side to them that it’s different. You would never put them in the 50 Shades of Grey category for example.
Kristen Painter has a great ability to write a compelling story that includes family members that are very relatable, like the meddling grandma or aunt, the noisy people of a small town, and relationship situations that can be related to real life events even if we are reading a paranormal romance book.
I truly enjoyed reading The Werewolf Meets His Match. I want to know about Sebastian finding his mate and what it’s going to happen with Sam that set his eyes on Hank’s sister, the owner of the most famous bar in town.

A little about me: I’m a former college English teacher, but I’ve held a crazy mix of other jobs including maitre’d for Wolfgang Puck, personal trainer, and sales for Christian Dior Bijoux. On the writing side of things, I’m a two-time Golden Heart finalist, have won various other awards, and have been on the board of three different RWA chapters. What can I say? I like getting involved. I’m not adverse to bossing people around either.
I have a *slight* shoe addiction and occasionally indulge in an unnecessary handbag. Hah! That was a joke. There is no such thing as an unnecessary handbag. I love make up and jewelry and spa days. Yes, I’m a girly girl. But don’t think that makes me weak. I can (and do) kill off characters with the best of them. Speaking of which…
My forays into writing have been as varied as the jobs I’ve held. I’ve written poetry, articles for magazines, short stories, paranormal romances (that include fantasy, contemporary and steampunk genres), and urban fantasy. Since writing two urban fantasy series, I’ve now returned to paranormal romance with the Nocturne Falls series. I love being able to write these funny, snarky, sweet books that are filled with great supernatural characters and lots of cats!
I still have several urban fantasy series I’d like to write. I just need to find the time!
